World Building

Thoughts on a lower power superhero world.

I don't see my gaming friends often enough. Over the weekend I was fortunate enough to see most of the ones I have in the area and to make a few new ones. I played a couple of very enjoyable games that I hadn't played before (Hollow Earth Expedition and FATE if you're curious) and got to bounce ideas off of people. One thought that has been percolating for a while but didn't see expression until the other day was Mutants and Mastermind's handling of low level play. Mutants and Masterminds is my favorite game at the moment and has been for a number of years but no system is perfect. In short, while M&M handles low level play, it doesn't showcase it.

D&D 2002 Setting Search

Back in 2002, Wizards of the Coast had a contest in which they invited players of the game to create a new setting for the Dungeons and Dragons game. In 2004, this resulted in the Eberron Campaign Setting. The contest was the chance of a lifetime and even if you didn't have something BRILLIANT to submit, there was a sense that you'd be missing out if you didn't at least submit something. In retrospect, my submission wasn't particularly fabulous.. what hurts me the most is my overuse of hyperbole. For those of you interested in a read, here is what I came up with:

[M&M] Omega: The Prequel?

As many of you know (mostly because I won't stop talking about it) I have been playing in a Mutants and Masterminds game for the last couple of years. Our goal during that time (besides surviving) has been to find out what happened to cause the 'cataclysm' that removed all of the world's active super-beings. As we move closer to that goal, I have an idea for a series of adventures that can take place here and there leading up to that event. I've been trying to hold off on posting this but some ideas just demand to be brainstormed.
